Referrals, Fees & GP Info
To make a referral, please attach your referral letter and MHCP and either email (admin@talkpsychology.online) or fax (+61 3900 7534) it to us.

Services & Fees
Our usual 50-minute individual session costs between $195 - $230.
Psychology support doesn't end when session does. These session costs include time spent out of session talking with GP's/ care teams/ agencys, researching & providing materials to support you between sessions and brief letters & reports (e.g., Letter of Support, Medical Certificates) to support treatment.
Mental Health Care Plans
Medicare Rebates & Out-of-Pocket Expenses - For a 50+ minute individual sessions, Medicare Rebates as of July, 2025 are approximately $98.95 for our psychologist. This results in out-of-pocket costs between approx. $96 - $131.
Reduced Cost - For some circumstances, we may offer reduced session costs. For example, a total 50+minute session reduced cost of $150 with a medicare rebate results in an out-of-pocket cost of approximately $51.
Bulk Billing - When able we do offer limited bulk billing services. Currently late cancellations cannot be charged through Medicare, and will require private payment.

Eating Disorder Treatment & Management Plan
If you believe you may be suffering from disordered eating, your GP may assess you are eligible for an EDP. This provides you with up to 40 partially funded psychology sessions, as well as an additional 20 sessions with dietetic services. In each referral, you can access up to 10 psychological treatment services before requiring a referral renewal.
Please note, a specialist review by a psychiatrist or paediatrician is required for the person experiencing an eating disorder to be able to access the additional 20 psychological sessions. To avoid treatment being disrupted, it is recommended this is scheduled in the early stages of initial EDP.

Work & Development Order (VIC & NSW)
This program allows vulnerable people with unpaid fines to clear their debt by engaging in approved activities, like seeing a psychologist. Approved sponsors, like our psychologist, can support clients to manage fines due to mental illness, intellectual disability, addiction, homelessness, family violence, or financial hardship.
This program does not require a GP referral.

Weekend & Out Of Hours
We offer appointments after hours and on weekends at no additional cost.
Information for GP's
Medicare requires psychologists to have a valid referral under the Better Access Initiative. A Mental Health Plan is important and helpful, however cannot be used as a referral.
When submitting a referral, please include:
The patients name
Date of birth
Patient address
Symptoms or prior diagnosis
Current medication
The number of services the patient is being referred for (MHCP: maximum is 6 of 10; EDP: maximum 10 of 40).
Brief statement outlining if client has MHCP or EDP.
Reporting to you is essential to your patients care, and will be provided:
Following initial session to indicate if referral been accepted.
Following each referral course, and include assessments carried out, treatment provided and recommendation for future management.
If the patient doesn't complete the course of treatment.
If they later return and complete the course of treatment.
Relevant updates or suggestions throughout treatment.
